Junior Appalachian Musicians, Inc. seeks a Part Time (20 hours/week average) Field Office Coordinator, who will be responsible for the management of a new JAM satellite office in the Knoxville, TN area. The Field Office Coordinator must be knowledgeable in community organizing and traditional Appalachian music/culture, as responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: establishing community partnerships to organize new after school JAM programs; and, provide JAM program model materials, training, consultation and assistance to existing JAM programs throughout East TN and surrounding areas within a 150 mile radius of Knoxville. The position will also require marketing and some event planning. The Field Office Coordinator will receive training and work closely with JAM, Inc. Executive Director.

Qualified applicants must be highly self-motivated with excellent communication skills, including public speaking, as well as written and verbal communications. Experience working with the public, with a strong interest in youth traditional music/ cultural place based education desired. Must be 21 or older with active driver’s license. Criminal background check required. Applicant must be able to work from home with some evening and weekend hours on occasion. Travel will be compensated at federal rate per mile. Salary is $20,800 per year. Start date TBD.

About the Organization: Junior Appalachian Musicians, Inc. (JAM) is a 501c3 organization serving as the parent office for more than 50 after school JAM programs in the four state area of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. JAM is a program model that employs local musicians/artists to pass along traditional old time/bluegrass/Appalachian music, dance styles and cultural arts to children in grades 4 and up. JAM provides communities with the tools and support they need to teach children to play and dance to traditional old time and bluegrass music. This mission includes facilitating community organizing to assist communities in the development of new JAM programs, cultivating program awareness, interest and participation, and providing training, curricula, instruments, performance opportunities, and much more at no cost to affiliated programs.
