How to use the forums

Directions on how to use the forums:

If you are trying to register to create a profile for our forum (or other wordpress forums) and are experiencing problems with the Register link, please go to this link to register: http://wordpress.org/support/register.php

The JAM forums are discussion boards. There are four different forums set up for each type of user: JAM teachers, JAM Kids, Program Administrators, and Public School Teachers. You do have to register with wordpress to post a topic or participate in the discussion board by providing a username, password, and an e-mail address.

At the top of our website from any page, you can click the heading ‘JAM Forums’ and it will take you to the main listing for all four different forums. You may use the SEARCH box here to search all of the forums. You can also use the SEARCH box within each forum to search one place at a time. This keyword search will return results containing keywords located inside the messages or the subject lines.

To POST a topic or pose a question, go to the forum of your choice and click NEW TOPIC on the bottom right hand side of the page. It will ask you to put in a subject line (that will be your TOPIC) and it will prompt you to enter your question or information, just like writing an e-mail. Always put a subject line so that the topic will show up and others will know what your post is about. When writing the message, you also have the options of changing the font of your text, putting in links to other website, and inserting images. CLick SUBMIT at the bottom left below your message box to put your message on the forum discussion list when you are finished writing.

If you want to read a topic that has been posted, you will be able to see all of the ‘threads’ when you go to your forum of choice. Click on the subject lines to read the post. Here, you can reply to a post. Click NOTIFY if you want to be e-mailed when someone replies to the topic/post.

These forums will be moderated and checked most every day by an administrator to make sure there is not inappropriate content or spam. We encourage parents to supervise their children if they are participating in the forums, as well.

Thanks, and happy discussion!
