Boone JAM (NC)

BooneJAM

The Boone area of Watauga Co, NC is the home of many legendary singers and musicians, probably most notably the late Doc Watson and members of his extended family through several generations. Its old time traditions carry on, leaving a great number of current bluegrass and old time musicians to follow the footsteps of the legendary musicians in Watauga County history. As well as stringband traditions, ballad singing still lives on in this area, and is linked to the Hicks Family of Beech Mountain. Frank Proffitt, is another important ballad and folk singer.
