Tryon Fine Arts Center is hosting ‘PACJAM’ (Pacolet JAM) for children in approximately 2nd through twelfth grade from Polk County, NC and Rutherford County, NC schools, as well as North Spartanburg, SC and Northern Greenville, SC schools. It is held on Mondays (3:15-4:45) Wednesdays at the Arts Center from 4:00 to 6:00 with adult classes an hour before and an hour after and on Thursdays for PacJAM Performers from 5:00 – 6:30 pm.  Pacolet JAM, named for the Pacolet River, provides small group traditional music instruction including classes in fiddle, clawhammer banjo, three-finger banjo, guitar, mandolin, bass, singing, band, and dulcimer. The program also engages parents and other adults in a community learning approach. The group performs regularly for the community for fundraisers. PacJAM also has a summer camp each year.

Enrichment Opportunities: “Our enrichment time this year was lots of dancing, plus a guest story-teller, a guest choral group from Uganda, a student open mic, teachers playing & singing for the kids and a big weekend participating in workshops, performing and jamming at the Earl Scruggs Music Festival!”
