Tryon Fine Arts Center is hosting the new ‘PACJAM’ (Pacolet JAM) for children in grades 3-7 from Polk County, NC and Rutherford County, NC schools, as well as North Spartanburg, SC and Northern Greenville, SC schools. It is held on Wednesdays at the Arts Center from 4 – 6 pm. Pacolet JAM, named for the Pacolet River, provides small group traditional music instruction including classes in fiddle, 3-finger banjo, clawhammer banjo, guitar, mandolin, singing, dance, ukulele, dulcimer, folklore and band. The program also engages parents and other adults in a community learning approach. The group performs regularly for the community for fundraisers. PacJAM also has a summer camp each year.
