Tryon Fine Arts Center is hosting ‘PACJAM’ (Pacolet JAM) for children in approximately first through twelfth grade from Polk County, NC and Rutherford County, NC schools, as well as North Spartanburg, SC and Northern Greenville, SC schools. It is held on Wednesdays at the Arts Center from 4:00 to 6:00 with adult classes an hour before and an hour after. Pacolet JAM, named for the Pacolet River, provides small group traditional music instruction including classes in fiddle, clawhammer banjo, three-finger banjo, guitar, mandolin, bass, singing, band, and dulcimer. The program also engages parents and other adults in a community learning approach. The group performs regularly for the community for fundraisers. PacJAM also has a summer camp each year.
