The Bristol Bearcat JAM, a Crooked Road JAM program, has two sites at Virginia Middle School and Washington & Lee Elementary, both in the City of Bristol, Virginia. Local bluegrass musicians work with Virginia Middle School teachers and administrators to host this traditional music education program after school, as part of the 21st Century Learning Center grant. Bristol JAM offers instruction on mandolin, guitar, fiddle and banjo and meets on Monday afternoons at both locations (VMS 3:00pm til 4:00, WLE from 4:15 to 5:00.) Enrichment opportunities include partnerships with neighboring organizations, such as the Birthplace of Country Music Museum.
